The Costanti winery, one of the most celebrated in Montalcino, has released a stunning Brunello di Montalcino in 2011. It is a wine that will ultimately rival their benchmark 2010.
In contrast to many wines from this more approachable year, Costanti’s 2011 Brunello will need three to four years in the cellar to reach its fullest potential. The altitude of the vineyards in 2011 played such an important role in deciding the fate of each producer. Costanti’s 460+ metres of elevation, amongst the highest of any producer in Montalcino, ensured that the wine retained enough acidity to give it an exquisite level of balance, minerality and longevity.
This is a knock out wine from 2011 and one of the finest Brunelli that we’ve tasted across the whole vintage. We only have 50 six bottle cases available so we would highly recommend snapping up a case or 2.

The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the classiest wines of the vintage. Macerated cherry, cinnamon, orange peel and spice notes are all fused together in a succulent, impeccably balanced Brunello endowed with fabulous balance, knock-out aromatics and remarkable grace. Costanti’s 2011 is a rare Brunello from this vintage that has enough structure to age for a number of years. Its class and pedigree are evident, even at this early stage.
