A Passion for Burgundy

I am just back from my first visit to Hong Kong with some very fond memories following a series of amazing events organised for me by Tom Sackville. The thing that struck me the most is that there is an absolute passion for wine on the island, and in particular a love for the great names of Burgundy. I was the lucky recipient of so much generosity from a wealth of wine lovers.

Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé Vendanges 2015

I have just returned from a wonderful two weeks in Sancerre where growers were bringing in a very promising 2015 vintage in glorious sunshine. The Sauvignon Blanc was perfectly ripe, and we expect some rich, tropical flavours with balanced alcohol and fresh acidity. The Pinot Noir faired well too, and the threat of pests like the Suzukii fly and diseases like Esca, which caused such concern last year, seem to be well under control. In September I was lucky enough to be invited by our good friends Maisons Marques et Domaines to visit an estate whose wines I have been selling for over 8 years and who in my eyes produce THE best Rosé money can buy, Domaine Ott.
