We are incredibly honoured to have been named Decanter Magazine’s Burgundy Specialist Retailer of the Year award for the third year in a row!

We strive to spread the word about this fantastic region by having a list with depth and range across all the major appellations of the region. We also put on top-end Burgundy tastings and dinners, and try to ensure our en primeur campaigns are engaging and informative. BUT, we never thought we could win a hat-trick in this toughest of categories at the country’s most respected wine retailer awards.

It was a huge surprise when we were announced as winners at last Wednesday’s ceremony at The Connaught, and we are all extraordinarily delighted with the accolade. We are particularly proud as we are the only merchant to have won three awards in a row in the same specialist category.

Head judge Peter Richards MW commented that we have “an infectious enthusiasm for the region and impeccable customer service, as well as an exemplary list and events programme.”

We are incredibly fortunate to enjoy wonderful relationships with many of the greatest Burgundian producers and all this is only possible thanks to their extraordinary work.

Goedhuis & Co named IWC Bordeaux Specialist Merchant of the Year 2016

We are delighted, in 2016, not only to have built on the previous accolades for our Burgundy List, being Highly Commended in the Burgundy Specialist category at the International Wine Challenge Awards, but also to have been named IWC Bordeaux Specialist Merchant of the Year 2016.  We are well established as one of a handful of top Burgundy specialists in the country, but as there are many considerably larger players in the Bordeaux field we were absolutely delighted to receive this endorsement of the quality of our Bordeaux portfolio.

2015: We were thrilled to have been named Decanter Burgundy Specialist Retailer of the Year 2015 for the second year in a row. We are so honoured by this reward for 30 years work in the region but the credit must really go to our growers from some of the finest estates in the Côte d’Or. The judges commented:

Winning this category is a company who shows excellent strength and depth in its range, including older releases and impressive own-label wines, as well as arranging regular trips and events. Judges’ comments included, ‘tremendous list with a good price range’, to ‘great team with a good family feel.’

2014: This was also an exciting year for Goedhuis & Co, receiving two major awards for our Burgundy list, from both the International Wine Challenge and Decanter Wine Magazine as UK Burgundy Specialists of the Year.

Of all fine wine producing regions Burgundy and Bordeaux remain the most captivating and the most sought-after. At Goedhuis & Co we are committed to providing our clients with an unparalleled range of wines from both the most respected, established Chateaux and Domaines in these regions and also up-and-coming relatively unheard of producers.

For our specialist Burgundy and Bordeaux lists we represent all major appellations across a range of quality levels at different price points. In Burgundy we work with over 50 different producers and we pride ourselves on selecting as broad a range as possible, from small, upcoming estates under the helm of the new generation such as Vincent Charton in Mercurey, Benjamin Leroux in Beaune and Cyril Audoin in Marsannay through to the great established names such as Domaines Ponsot, Comte Armand, Sylvain Cathiard and Jean-Philippe Fichet, from whom we purchase directly as a selected distributor in the UK. In Bordeaux we have close relationships with many major chateaux and negociants to ensure everything from Bordeaux AC to First Growths are well-represented.

In both 2014 and 2015 we have also been included in the London Stock Exchange’s “1000 Companies to Inspire Britain”, an annual celebration of some of the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK.

We were also selected for Fine Wine section of The Spear’s 500; Spear’s new essential guide, launched in 2014, to the top private client service providers for high net worth individuals and their families. It is the first comprehensive guide across all these private client fields in the world and inclusion is a recognition of the exceptional level of personal service we aim to deliver to our clients.
