We are delighted to announce that Goedhuis & Co received two of the most prestigious prizes in the wine trade: Decanter Retailer Awards for Best Burgundy Specialist (for the 4th time) and Best En Primeur Campaign of the Year for both Bordeaux and Burgudy (a new category in the 2018 awards). These awards come after winning the 2018 International Wine Challenge Burgundy Merchant of the Year this July, re-affirming our focus and determination to bring you the best wines from this singular region.
Please see below Peter Richards MW (Awards Chairman) Winner Presentations.
We wanted to share the news that we have just received the International Wine Challenge award for UK Burgundy Specialist Wine Merchant of the Year 2018. This is testament to the fantastic range of Burgundy producers we are privileged to work with, old friends and new, grand and modest, across the length and breadth of the region. We would also like to thank our brilliant clients, who continue to buy, drink and enjoy these wonderful wines.
Other Burgundy Awards
We are incredibly honoured to have been named Decanter Magazine’s Burgundy Specialist Retailer of the Year award for the third year in a row (2016, 2015 and 2014)! We never thought we could win a hat-trick in this toughest of categories at the country’s most respected wine retailer awards. We are particularly proud as we are the only merchant to have won three awards in a row in the same specialist category. Head judge Peter Richards MW commented that we have “an infectious enthusiasm for the region and impeccable customer service, as well as an exemplary list and events programme.”
We have also been Highly Commended in the Burgundy Specialist category at the International Wine Challenge Awards in 2016, and received the award in 2014.
Goedhuis & Co named IWC Bordeaux Specialist Merchant of the Year 2016
In 2016 we were thrilled to be named IWC Bordeaux Specialist Merchant of the Year. We are well established as one of a handful of top Burgundy specialists in the country, but as there are many considerably larger players in the Bordeaux field we were absolutely delighted to receive this endorsement of the quality of our Bordeaux portfolio.
Of all fine wine producing regions Burgundy and Bordeaux remain the most captivating and the most sought-after. At Goedhuis & Co we are committed to providing our clients with an unparalleled range of wines from both the most respected, established Chateaux and Domaines in these regions and also up-and-coming relatively unheard of producers.
For our specialist Burgundy and Bordeaux lists we represent all major appellations across a range of quality levels at different price points. In Burgundy we work with over 50 different producers and we pride ourselves on selecting as broad a range as possible, from small, upcoming estates under the helm of the new generation such as Vincent Charton in Mercurey, Benjamin Leroux in Beaune and Cyril Audoin in Marsannay through to the great established names such as Domaines Ponsot, Comte Armand, Sylvain Cathiard and Jean-Philippe Fichet, from whom we purchase directly as a selected distributor in the UK. In Bordeaux we have close relationships with many major chateaux and negociants to ensure everything from Bordeaux AC to First Growths are well-represented.
In both 2014 and 2015 we have also been included in the London Stock Exchange’s “1000 Companies to Inspire Britain”, an annual celebration of some of the fastest-growing and most dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises in the UK.
We were also selected for Fine Wine section of The Spear’s 500; Spear’s new essential guide, launched in 2014, to the top private client service providers for high net worth individuals and their families. It is the first comprehensive guide across all these private client fields in the world and inclusion is a recognition of the exceptional level of personal service we aim to deliver to our clients.
