Founded by Ross and Barbara Lawson in 1982, this estate is firmly part of the Marlborough establishment, home to New Zealand’s most famous Sauvignon Blancs. A more restrained style than some, which is what we like. Subtle crushed blackcurrant leaf aromas, pure and balanced on the palate, with a very refreshing finish.
Situated at the northern tip of New Zealand's South Island, Marlborough is now the country'slargest wine region. Since the 1970's when Montana started investing hugely in the area, vineyardplanting has continued apace and the number of producers is now over a hundred. The unique combination of long, sunny days, cool nights and dry autumns enables the grapes to reach maximum phenolic ripeness while retaining their acidity. Its Sauvignon Blancs, as personified by the crisp, smokily aromatic Cloudy Bay, are now world-famous. Fine Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are also grown.
