- We tasted dozens of Proseccos to find this gem. Soft and creamy with notes of fresh almond, pear and apple, it is refined and pure. Everything a good Prosecco should be. It finishes on lemon zest and mineral notes. Delicious.
Veneto
Nestled between the visually dazzling city of Venice and celestial Lake Garda, this prolific wine region is famous for both its whites and reds - notably Soave, Valpolicella and Amarone della Valpolicella. The aquatic influence results in relatively moderate temperatures even in hot vintages preserving the grapes' freshness.
Bianca Vigna SAS
We affectionately (and jovially) call this wine The Krug of Prosecco. Not only is its bottle shape reminiscent of the King of Champagne, but it is also one of the best Proseccos we have tasted. It is a small, family owned domaine that was only created in 2005 by Elena Moschetta and her husband Luca Cuzziol, one of Italy’s premier importers of Grand Marque Champagne and top Burgundy domaines. Their Bianca Vigna DOC Valdobbiadene is their top wine and grown on well-draining, limestone-rich mid-slopes (like the best Burgundy). In Spring 2010, it will be promoted to DOCG similar to appellations as Chianti Classico and Barolo.
Prosecco
Fairly neutral high-yielding white grape variety, indigenous to the Veneto in North Eastern Italy, and used in the production of the eponymous sparkling wine.
