Tasting Notes
- Goedhuis, September 2009

- We looked high and low for a good value Chablis, so when we tasted this, we were very impressed. Very poised and pure, it delivers everything one seeks in a Chablis but at a bargain price - oyster shell, lemon zest and subtle leesy notes. With a year in bottle, it has a wonderful open-knit nose and palate. Truly delicious, this will be drinking well over the next two years.
- Imbibe Magazine, February 2010

- Lovely, creamy vanilla nose with some apple blossom. Fresh green apple fruit with zingy, lime acidity and an underlying minerality. Rich and quite creamy.
Chablis
Chablis is world famous for its white wines produced from the Chardonnay grape. The best vineyards are perched above the winding Serein river and are south or southwest facing ensuring better ripeness in this cooler climate. It has four appellation levels. Petit Chablis is the most modest and simple followed by Chablis, which is the largest and most prominent. Premier cru Chablis is the third largest appellation and encompasses almost 40 different climats or vineyards including the famed Montée de Tonnerre, Fourchaumes and Mont de Milieu. The most noble of all Chablis are the grand crus of which there are 7 climats in total Bougros, Les Preuses, Vaudésir, Grenouilles, Valmur, Les Clos and Blanchot. The wines of Chablis have remained some of the best value in the world, particularly their superb grand crus which can easily cost 50% less than its closest revered white grand cru neighbour, Corton Charlemagne.
Vincent Mothe
Vincent Mothe (also known as Domaine du Colombier) is a domaine that is renowned at making top wines at very reasonable prices. It is owned by three brothers - Guy, Thierry and Vincent - who produce delicious wines from their 30 hectares of vines. Despite our keen partiality towards them, we are not the only ones who think they are impressive. Their wines regularly win at wine competitions and always have a notable review in the Guide Hachette, France's foremost wine buying guide.
Chardonnay
Undoubtedly the world's most popular white wine grape, Chardonnay is most famous for creating the majority of white Burgundies. It is known for taking on the personality of the climate and soil as well as the style in which it is made. This versatility enables it to wear many masks including still wines from all over the world to sparkling wines in Champagne. It creates crisp, clean, mineral-driven wines in Chablis, exemplary, sumptuous wines in the Cote de Beaune, and palate-filling fruit-bombs, both oaked and otherwise, throughout the New World.
