Wines of Domaine Michel Morey-Coffinet, Burgundy
This domaine was created when the vineyards of the domain Marc Morey and of the domain Fernand Coffinet merged. These both, for several generations, have been renowned domaines of Chassagne-Montrachet. The vineyards total 9 hectares; Chardonnay is planted on 5 ha and produces great white wines. The rest of the surface is planted in Pinot Noir variety and produces excellent but less well known reds. Wine making is completely traditional, with ageing of wines in barrel, of which 1/3 are new, a regular bâtonnage (stirring of the lees in a barrel) of white wines. The bottling is made in the domain, about 12 months after the grape harvests. About 90 % of the total harvest ends up in bottle.
