Tasting Notes
- Robert Parker, April 2010, Score: 88-89

- A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc, this property was recently acquired by the obsessive perfectionist owner of l'Eglise Clinet, Denis Durantou. Ripe black cherry and black currant fruit is found in this voluptuous, lush, full-bodied, pure wine. Enjoy this hedonistic turn-on over the next 3-4 years. (Tasted once.) Drink: 2010 - 2014
- Robert Parker, February 2012, Score: 89

- From the famed proprietor Denis Durantou, who is better known for his famous Pomerol, L-Eglise Clinet, this wine is a blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Dense purple in color, with a boatload of tannin but also impressive levels of extract and richness, for a 2009 this wine needs some patience from its purchaser. It was more hedonistic from barrel, but it actually seems even more seriously endowed from bottle, and I would hold off drinking it for a year or so, as it should keep for at least a decade or more. Drink: 2013 - 2023
Bordeaux
When the Romans first planted a few vines on the limestone outcrops of St Emilion in the early years of the first century, and tasted what was, by all accounts, rather thin, bitter wine, they can hardly have imagined that the region's greatest red wines would become the most sought after fine wines in the world. From the days in the seventeenth century when the then owners of Ch Haut Brion, the de Pontac family, became the first to export to the UK, selling their wine in their own tavern, the Pontac's Head, red Bordeaux or claret has been the Englishman's favourite. The wines of the 1855 Classification are merely the tip of the iceberg. Bordeaux AC accounts for about half of all wine produced in the area, from vineyards outside the regional or communal appelations and often blended by the negociant houses. Simpler beasts these although still clearly related to their more illustrious cousins - relatively light and fresh, full of fruit, with soft tannins making for delicious, and good value, early drinking.
Château Montlandrie
Denis Durantou, the man behind the exceptional wines and reputation of Ch ˜Eglise Clinet in Pomerol, has branched out and is also responsible for Montlandrie, Cruzelles and La Chenade in the surrounding areas. He balances a belief in tradition and hard work with an openness to innovation, ensuring his wines are always of the highest quality.
Merlot / Cabernet Franc
This blend is favoured by many of the stars of the Right Bank in Bordeaux - Le Pin, Ausone and La Conseillante to name but a few. A potentially outstanding combination of Merlot's rich, ripe texture and soft plummy fruit with Cabernet Franc's firm tannins and crisp red fruit flavours.
