Goedhuis, December 2023
Following the devastating impact of the 2021 frost, when the domaine produced no Vergelesses, it is fabulous to reintroduce this fine example from the slopes of Pernand. Wild strawberry compote scent and flavours, the tannins have a characterful terroir edge with a granular subtlety. Good poise and tension on the finish.

Jasper Morris MW, November 2023, Score: 89-91
Not yet racked. An even medium deep purple. A very elegant floral, rose petal nose with some pleasing light fresh raspberry beneath. Then an extra burst of bright raspberry and cherry fruit on the palate with a little sucrosity, with the cherries reappearing after the light tannins. 13.9% Drink from 2027-2033.

Domaine Chandon de Briailles
The sibling team at this stunning domaine (Francois and Claude de Nicolay) is most definitely a winning one. Their biggest influence has been to convert the estate firstly to organic and now to biodynamic methods of viticulture and vinification. The wines focus on sensual flavours and refinement, these are not powerful, but the aged vines allow for wines of extraordinary texture and complexity.Region
Pernand Vergelesses
With its neighbours, Ladoix Serrigny and Aloxe-Corton, Pernand Vergelesses has its own village and premier cru appellations but shares the two grand crus: Corton, a red made from Pinot Noir, and Corton Charlemagne, a white made from Chardonnay. The limestone marl soil is well-suited to growing Chardonnay and the resulting white wines are crisp and mineral with a good capacity for ageing. Pinot Noir is planted in areas of redder iron-rich soil and the best vineyards produce charmingly soft red wines with classic notes of raspberries and violets.
