Goedhuis, December 2023
One of the Nuits’ most northerly climats, Les Damodes sits on the high slopes adjoining Vosne Romanée and alongside the highly esteemed Premier Cru Malconsorts. A full, voluminous wine, with opulence and juicy richness. The velvet like texture masks the tannic control that sits beneath. Great depth and extremely memorable all round.

Neal Martin, January 2024, Score: 92-94
The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Damodes 1er Cru is aged in 50% new oak and completely de-stemmed. This is pleasingly floral on the nose, with wilted roses filtering through the raspberry and redcurrant fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and a keen line of acidity. This is very elegant in style, with a composed and transparent finish. What a lovely Les Damodes from Faiveley. Drinking Window: 2026-2042.

Nuits Saint Georges
The second largest town after Beaune, Nuits St. Georges is known for ample wines that have textured tannins and rich fruit. Unlike other famous Côte de Nuits villages, it has no Grand Crus but does have a handful of exceptional premier cru vineyards such as Clos de l'Arlot, Les Pruliers and AuxMurgers. Its wines can be occasionally rustic, and this sets them apart from many of the more northern appellations as well as from the neighbouring Côte de Beaune whose wines (apart from Pommard) tend to be less structured and more fruit forward. This is no doubt due to a slightly increased presence of clay especially on the Primeaux-Prissey area of the appellation. Notable producers include Domaine de l'Arlot, Jean Grivot and Meo-Camuzet.
