Goedhuis, March 2024
From another lieu dit whose vines are 70 years old, the decomposed granite found in this vineyard is sandy and friable, the same soil as you find in Ch Grillet. Fresh orchard fruits, and fragrant white flowers define this 2022 which has a delicately fine texture and intensely mineral palate. The finish is mouthwatering and saline. Gorgeous. Drink 2024-2032.

Vinous, October 2023, Score: 94
The 2022 Condrieu Chéry deserves a round of applause. Vinified from just-ripe Viognier grapes harvested on the 24th of August, it dazzles with pronounced intensity of lemon flesh, apricot, white peach, ripe pear, cedar and quince. Banana and melon lend tropical gradations. Despite the fairly warm and dry vintage, the 2022 captures the freshness remarkably well. Landing on a complex finish, this Condrieu is built for the long haul and comes highly recommended. Drink 2024-2033.

Domaine André Perret
André Perret needs little introduction: he is the master of light-footed, complex Viogniers from the granite soils of Condrieu. The appellation is known for its rich, mouth-coating whites best drunk in their youth, although André’s sophisticated, expressive examples also have the potential to age well in bottle too. The 13 hectare domaine includes 5 hectares in Condrieu and 5 hectares in St Joseph, and his close-knit, peppe...Read more

Region
Condrieu
A white wine appellation, Condrieu is produced uniquely from Viognier to make both dry and sweet examples. Its best vineyards are grown on shards of decomposed mica often lending a pronounced minerality in its wines. Though Condrieu had a famous past, its more recent history has been modest and its bottlings were virtually unknown outside its region until the 1980s and 1990s when aficionados began to discover its unusual balance of intense fruity aromatics with its bone dry palate. In particularly warm vintages, their wines are notably rich and hedonistic.
