Neal Martin, November 2022, Score: 89-91
The 2021 Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits Les Dames Huguette is initially quite bashful on the nose, dark berry fruit intermingling with brown spices and orange blossom, gently unfolding with aeration. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity. Taut and fresh, this the most elegant of Cathiard's Hautes-Côtes with a precise finish. Excellent. Drink 2024-2034

Jasper Morris MW, November 2022, Score: 87-88
Medium crimson purple. A little less forthcoming than Aux Chaumes but maybe a touch more depth of fruit and in fact a little reduction. Lots of potential here in due course, as shown by the longest finish of the three. Drink from 2024-2027.

Sylvain Cathiard is one of the top growers in Vosne Romanée, a region not shy of exceptional talent. He only has around 4.25 hectares of vines, therefore the quantity that he makes is particularly small. Traditionally, Burgundy domaines are renowned for being minute in size, and he is definitely amongst the smallest. In addition, he has some of the most exceptional vineyards, which read like a Who's Who list of the Côte de Nuits, many of which are located next to grand crus sites. This combination is lethal for allocations. Too little wine with too many open hands all waiting for their fair share. SInce 2011 his talented son, Sébastien, has been running the domaine.Read less
Region
Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Nuits
Located at the top of the slopes and on the plateau above the celebrated villages of the Cotes de Nuits a dozen or so villages can claim this appellation. Given their altitude full ripeness is not guaranteed every year, so Hautes-Cotes status is only awarded after tasting. Principally reds from Pinot Noir, with a smattering of whites, these wines can be delicious and excellent value from the best vineyard sites.
