    The 2020 Bolgheri Superiore Guado al Tasso is a rich, resonant wine that captures the natural radiance of the Tuscan Coast. Blackberry jam, mocha, plum, chocolate, spice and espresso all build in a mid-weight yet succulent, inviting Bolgheri red. There's terrific richness and resonance here. This is a classic Guado al Tasso. In 2020, the estate did not make its top bottling, the 100% Cabernet Franc Matarocchio, opting to use that fruit for Guado al Tasso. "Late season rains were challenging for the Cabernet Sauvignon, so we chose to use all our best Franc in Guado al Tasso," CEO Renzo Cotarella explained. Drink 2027-2040.

Throughout its long history, spanning 26 generations, the family has always personally managed the business making innovative choices, but always with unwavering respect for tradition and the land. Expanding all the while, this family's interests span several estates allowing them to offer wines from the best regions of tuscany. Their influence helped efect many changes that affected the quality of the whole region's wines. For example, in response to 15 years of difficult evolution, in which Piero plays a leading role, the Italian government overrules the old DOC regulations and introduces the DOCG del Chianti Classico. This new regulation is due to the huge improvements in the quality of Chianti: not only the reduction in the requirement of white grapes, and the authorisation of 10% of non-native grape varieties, but also in the reduction of production yields and (even more importantly, according to the Antinoris' concept of quality) yields per vine.Read less

Bolgheri

The medieval town of Bolgheri was originally made famous by the poet Giosuè Carducci who wrote about the stunning Cypress Avenue, a breathtaking and magical three mile long corridor of trees leading up to the entrance to the village. Swept away to the coastal and most westerly area of Tuscany, Bolgheri has become synonymous with wines known as ‘Super Tuscans'. Composed of classic Bordeaux varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc (intermixed with the occasional Sangiovese), the Super Tuscans began as mere experimentation in the 1960s and 70s. These international French varieties flourished in Bolgheri's warm, yet maritime climate which resulted in unexpected success and reknown. It is here that one finds such famous names as Ornellaia, Tignanello and Sassicaia.
