Neal Martin, January 2022, Score: 95-97
The 2020 Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru has a vivacious bouquet with fine delineation, fragrant rose petal and peony scents infuse the mixture of red and black fruit that intensify with aeration, almost sorbet like with touches of squeezed orange zest. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and black fruit. Fine detail and poise in situ, very focused and surfeit with livewire energy, this is destined to be a superb Griotte-Chambertin for long-term ageing. Four barrels produced. Drink 2026-2055

Jasper Morris MW, January 2022, Score: 96-99
Wonderful rich crimson purple, the bouquet has something of everything from ripe griottine cherries, through a little pepper, to some fresh alpine strawberries. Is it as noble as the Clos St Jacques ? I am not sure. Is it even more complex? Probably. Another great wine in the making. The fruit shows a little darker (in a good way) right at the back and once again is magically persistent. 5 stars

Jean-Marie Fourrier took over his family domaine in 1994 and has attacked every vintage with dynamic determination and ambition, building the reputation of the estate with astute viticulture and fanatical winemaking. He had learned from the best, most notably the late Henri Jayer of Vosne Romanée and Domaine Drouhin in the Willamette Valley in Oregon with whom he did his formative training. He is a keen participant in the growing trend towards minimal intervention in the vineyard and winery. The domaine has a remarkable array of very old vines, many having been planted between the wars. The Fourrier wines are pure and balanced.Read less

Griotte-Chambertin
Although the name Griotte-Chambertin comes from a word for a grill-pan inspired by the shape of the vineyard, locals and critics alike agree that there is an unmistakeable scent of cherries in this delectable wine. One of the nine Grand Cru vineyards to be found within Gevrey Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertins are wines of great power, complexity and longevity.
