  • Goedhuis, December 2019

Deep dark opaque colour, this is full of compact brooding winter fruits, with hints of fig, walnut and cinnamon. A powerfully intense and broadly structured wine, this is not shy in expressing its quality, depth and weight. Excellent density and very long indeed.

  • Neal Martin, January 2020, Score: 90-92

The 2018 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru comes from two parcels amounting to a single hectare of vines. This is more mineral-driven than the straight Le Corton, offering beautifully defined red berry fruit laced with crushed limestone and light marine aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with powerful red berry fruit. Quite heady for a Corton-Bressandes, leading to an intense finish. Perhaps this year I err toward the restraint shown by the Le Corton. • Burghound, April 2020, Score: 94

A brooding nose only reluctantly reveals its extremely fresh notes of plum, cassis, violets and pungent earth. There is a bit more volume to the powerful, concentrated and serious big-bodied flavors that evidence a lovely minerality on the mouth coating, firmly structured and strikingly long and beautifully well-balanced finish. This bad boy of a Bressandes is a knockout but one that is clearly going to require extended cellaring to soften what are presently resolute tannins. Don't miss! Drink 2035+

  • Jasper Morris MW, January 2020, Score: 91-94

Dense and dark purple, this is a powerful beast, offering a high octane nose with oak and ripeness but I think this carries it off. Actually its really gorgeous with a sumptuous sweet rich ripe fruit, with great length.

The wines of Tollot-Beaut are some of the best we taste every vintage. Uncomplicated, pure and fresh, they epitomize everything that we love about wines from the Côte de Beaune. In addition, their fleshiness and approachability makes them perfect for cynics who claim that Burgundy is not their cup of tea. The 22-hectare domaine has been family-owned for years. Today, the young, friendly and exceptionally bright Nathalie Tollot manages the domaine with her cousins. The wines are vinified fairly traditionally. About 40% of the crop is de-stemmed, though this varies depending on vintage. The wines are fermented in open-top wooden vats before being aged in oak barrels that are 10-50% new. Very lightly fined and filtered before bottling, the resulting wines are often opulent with noticeable density, always clean and superbly pure. Just wonderful Burgundy.Read less

Region

Corton

The Grands Crus of Corton, a red made from Pinot Noir, and Corton Charlemagne, a white made from Chardonnay are shared between Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix Serrigny and Pernand Vergelesses. The vines for both are planted on the hillsides underneath the plateau of Corton's woodland forest. The majorityof Pinot Noir is planted in the southern and eastern sector where the soil is naturally rich with red iron clay giving additional body and power. Overall, the wines from these areas tend to be fruit forward and fleshy with a balance of round edges and fine concentration.
