Neal Martin, April 2017, Score: 85-87
The 2016 Blason d'Issan is a blend of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 60% Merlot matured in 35% new oak. It has a light, slightly earthy bouquet with blackberry and autumn leaf aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly hard tannin on the entry, quite crisp, but there is a touch of hardness on the finish that will need to be addressed during the élevage. Drink Date 2019 - 2025

James Suckling, April 2017, Score: 93-94
This is a fantastic Blason with gorgeous fruit and velvety tannins. Full-bodied and dense with soft and velvety tannins. Lovely acidity at the end. Best ever second wine from here.

Jancis Robinson, April 2017, Score: 16.5
Fresh and penetrating aroma. Luscious texture. Doesn’t taste like a second wine! Just a little stodgy on the finish. Drink 2020-2026

Château d'Issan
Many collectors view this château as well worth its status... and they are not alone. For centuries, d'Issan has been a coveted treasure. According to local lore, it was served at thewedding of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry Plantagenet as well as a favourite of Emperor François-Joseph of Austria. Since 1945, the property has been owned by the Cruse family with Emmanuel Cruse at the château's helm.Region
Margaux
Plump, silky and seductive are the words often used to describe wines from Margaux. Because of their style, they tend to be user friendly and more approachable when young. This is in part due to its terroir which is comprised of the thinnest soil as well as the highest proportion of chunky gravel in all of the Médoc. It drains well but also is it more susceptible to vintage variation. Margaux wines tend to have the highest proportions of Merlot within the core of the Médoc further adding to their ample roundness and openness. Margaux is home to the largest number of classified growths including its namesake first growth, Château Margaux, as well as third growths, Palmer and d'Issan.
