  • Goedhuis, November 2017

A creamy, generous style, with notes of freshly buttered croissant, and clotted cream, and ripe, white stone fruits. It unfurls in the palate with a glorious length and texture.

  • Neal Martin, December 2017, Score: 91-93

The 2016 Bienvenues Batard Montrachet Grand Cru was diminished from 22 to seven barrels this vintage. The bouquet demanded some coaxing from the glass, a little introverted following the Pucelles and Folatières. With time there are fleeting glimpses of wild mint and iodine. The palate is very balanced and harmonious, a pretty and feminine Bienvenues with nicely pitched acidity and a touch of orange peel and white peach toward the saline finish. I suspect it will drink earlier than Leflaive’s other grand crus. Drink 2020-2035

  • Burghound, June 2018, Score: 93-95

Notes of smoky reduction mask the fruit though the nose does seem ripe. Otherwise the mouth feel of the slightly bigger and richer flavors is similar to that of the Pucelles while the impeccably well-balanced finish displays just a bit more length. Don't miss! Drink: 2028+

  • Decanter, January 2018, Score: 94

The domaine’s vines in Bienvenues produced seven barrels in lieu of a normal 22 in 2016. The wine is lovely, wafting from the glass with aromas of tangerine oil, Meyer lemon, pear, subtle spice and iodine. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, glossy and elegant, with good concentration, chewy extract and succulent acids. Drinking Window 2022 - 2035

  • Tim Atkin, January 2018, Score: 97

Yields were super low at around 10 hectolitres per hectare in 2016, but what survived the frost is delicious, showing impressive focus, line and palate length. There’s plenty of fruit weight here, with nectarine and tangerine to the fore, underpinned by chalky acidity. 2021-30

Doamine Leflaive's vineyards in Puligny Montrachet are steeped in history and the current generation can look back to 1717 for the first Leflaive family occupation of the farm buildings that they use today. The domaine was founded by Joseph Leflaive, who came to Burgundy in 1905. Anne-Claude Leflaive, the granddaughter of Joseph was appointed to run the domaine in 1990. A fervent proponent of biodynamic viticulture, Anne-Claude converted the domaine to biodynamics. After her untimely death in 2015, Brice de La Morandiere's, Anne-Claude's nephew and great grand son of Joseph Leflaive took on the mantle. He upholds the terroir-orientated, sustainable winemaking philosophy of the family.Read less
