Goedhuis, December 2016
Named after the Benedictine Prior of Cluny who lived in the middle of the village. A very complete wine. The strong flavours of dark fruits and hints of mocha are balanced with a silky mouth texture and an enticingly juicy finish.

Neal Martin, December 2016, Score: 90-92
The 2015 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur, matured in 50% new oak, has a lively and elegant bouquet with bright dark cherry and blackberry fruit, matched with impressive mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. It feels compact at the moment, yet the tannins are crisp and tensile, and there is plenty of red cherry and strawberry on the tart finish. This is very fine. Drink Date 2019 - 2032

Burghound, January 2017, Score: 90-93
Background notes of wood toast and earth easily allow the pretty, fresh and cool aromas of red and dark currant, forest floor and spice nuances to be appreciated. There is really lovely detail to the attractively textured, intense and beautifully complex medium weight flavors that deliver excellent length on the well-balanced finale. While this is presently somewhat youthfully austere, it still should drink relatively well early on. Outstanding. (90-93)/2025+

They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less

Gevrey Chambertin
The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
