    The 2014 Vosne-Romanée Villages has more fruit intensity than the Chambolle at this stage with lively strawberry and red cherry scents. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, good substance here for a village cru with a touch of spice on the finish. Perhaps a little conservative but hey, it is a village cru and it will do absolutely fine. Drink 2016-2021

    A moderately spicy and ultra-fresh nose exhibits notes of both red and black pinot fruit along with background hints of sandalwood and tea. There is an attractive sense of vibrancy to the well-detailed middle weight flavors that possesses very fine length on the beautifully balanced finish. This is very Vosne and a lovely villages. Recommended. Outstanding. Drink 2021+

The Hudelots are an ancient Burgundian family whose ancestry can be traced back to Chambolle since before the French Revolution. Needless to say, wine has been in their blood for almost as long. Alain Huedlot began his wine career in 1954 working for his father and other local growers. At the ripe young age of 20, he started renting vineyards from his family in Chambolle Musigny until eventually receiving other small parcels from his father. Following a passionate and whirlwind romance with the granddaughter of Charles Noellat, he married despite protests from her family. This controversial union ensured additional vineyards despite a harrying and lengthy legal battle. Today the domaine owns a total of 10 well-situated hectares, which are split over 5 communes. Alain Hudelot’s grandson Charles Van Canneyt is a man on a mission. Having arrived at the domaine from Champagne only six years ago, he is already considered one of the brightest young talents in the region. These wines are wonderful examples of traditionally styled Burgundy - superbly pure and focused with an undeniable sense of terroir.Read less

Vosne Romanée

The vineyards of the modest village of Vosne Romanée are arguably the most sought after in the Côte d'Or. It is host to excellent Village and Premier Cru wines, but it is its most famous Grand Crusthat truly stand out: Romanée-Conti, La Tâche, Richebourg, Grands Echézeaux, Echézeaux, Romanée St. Vivant and La Romanée as well as Cros Parentoux, a Premier Cru vineyard which attracts Grand Cru attention (and prices). Vosne-Romanée can be remarkably robust and powerful, yet be charming and fleshy giving it one of the most diverse styles of the region.
