Based in Beaune, Benjamin uses his network of contacts to source only the very best fruit and, where he has contracts, likes to advise on vineyard practices to make sure that the raw material is of the highest quality. Region
Mazoyéres Chambertin
Mazoyères-Chambertin is one of the nine Grands Crus in the Gevrey-Chambertin district on the Côte de Nuits, producing red wine from Pinot Noir. It is located on a gentle slope in the far south of Gevrey-Chambertin next to the Morey-St-Denis border. The vineyard lies on gravelly soil of no more than 30 to 40 cm in depth over the bare rock below. It is sheltered from the winds and hail by the woods of the Montagne de la Combe Grisard to the North West. When young these wines are bursting with strawberry and raspberry flavours, as well as violets and gamey undertones. Mazoyères-Chambertin is lighter and more rounded than other Grand Cru Gevreys. The appellations of Mazoyères-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin can be used interchangeably.
