Neal Martin, December 2014, Score: 91-93
The 2013 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru offers pure red cherry and strawberry scents on the nose, interlaced with vanilla and dried flowers, a touch more complex than the Chapelle-Chambertin at this stage. The palate is quite energetic in the mouth with candied red fruit, minerals and citrus peel. Animated and long, this is a fine Latricières and one of the best offering from the domaine this year.

Burghound, January 2015, Score: 91-94
(from a .67 ha parcel of extremely old vines). This is aromatically more complex if not more elegant than the Chapelle with its array of spiced plum, exotic tea, dark currant and subtle sauvage scents. The restrained and beautifully delineated flavors also seem to be constructed on a base of liquid minerality that adds lift to the very firm, intense, linear and moderately austere finish that delivers outstanding persistence. This too will need at least 12 to 15 years to arrive at its full potential. Drink 2025+

This substantial Gevrey Chambertin domaine is under the guardianship of a collaborative family team: parents Christine and Philippe, and children Caroline and Nicolas. They have an embarrassment of riches within their armoury of four 1ers Crus and six exceptional Grands Crus, culminating with plots of both Clos de Bèze and Le Musigny. They also boast one of the finest two storey cellars in the Côte d’Or, built by members of the Prussian military on their way back from the Hundred Years War, with ideal conditions maintaining perfect temperatures for Philippe’s preferred two-year élevage in cask. The wines are ripe, concentrated, and often earthy and textured. They offer terrific value, particularly in Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru.Read less
Region
Latricières Chambertin
Latricières-Chambertin is one of the nine Grands Crus in the Gevrey-Chambertin district on the Côte de Nuits, producing red wine from Pinot Noir. It is located on a gentle slope in the far south of Gevrey-Chambertin next to the Morey-St-Denis border. The vineyard lies on white oolite soils, sheltered from the winds and hail by the woods of the Montagne de la Combe Grisard to the North West. When young these wines are bursting with strawberry and raspberry flavours, as well as violets and gamey undertones. Compared to other Grand Cru Gevrey, Latricières-Chambertin is not ultra-powerful and seems to exude a sublime lacy quality.
