  • Goedhuis, December 2014

Possibly Corton’s most consistently reliable Grand Cru, its scented characteristics of violets, damsons and sloes, perfumed flavours and coating texture, make it a very easy wine both to understand and appreciate. Always hugely pleasurable.

  • Neal Martin, February 2018, Score: 91

The 2013 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru has a lively and fresh, very perfumed bouquet, one that develops some lovely spicy scents with aeration. The palate is sensual for this particular Grand Cru with rounded, supple red fruit and loamy notes towards the finish. Not quite as complex as the best Grand Crus from this vintage but commendable all the same. Tasted at Goedhuis Co.'s annual Burgundy tasting in London. Drink 2019-2030

  • Burghound, April 2015, Score: 93.0

As is often the case this is the best wine in the range with its slightly riper liqueur-like nose that features notes of kirsch, violet, plum, smoked game and a lovely floral nuance. The mouth feel of the big but not really imposing flavors is quite sophisticated thanks to the firm but fine tannic spine that shapes the mouth coating, saline and lingering finish. This is a wine of contrasts as the backend is at once slightly austere yet naturally sweet. Note that while this should more than amply reward 12 to 15 years of cellaring it will very likely drink well young too.

  • Sarah Marsh, November 2014, Score: 18.75

This is a a good cut above. Straighter and more contained than Les Combe. Neat at the edges;firm, smooth tannins. It has power, direction and minerality; Very good mineral finish. Intensity. Score 18.75. From 2023.

The wines of Tollot-Beaut are some of the best we taste every vintage. Uncomplicated, pure and fresh, they epitomize everything that we love about wines from the Côte de Beaune. In addition, their fleshiness and approachability makes them perfect for cynics who claim that Burgundy is not their cup of tea. The 22-hectare domaine has been family-owned for years. Today, the young, friendly and exceptionally bright Nathalie Tollot manages the domaine with her cousins. The wines are vinified fairly traditionally. About 40% of the crop is de-stemmed, though this varies depending on vintage. The wines are fermented in open-top wooden vats before being aged in oak barrels that are 10-50% new. Very lightly fined and filtered before bottling, the resulting wines are often opulent with noticeable density, always clean and superbly pure. Just wonderful Burgundy.Read less

Region

Corton

The Grands Crus of Corton, a red made from Pinot Noir, and Corton Charlemagne, a white made from Chardonnay are shared between Aloxe-Corton, Ladoix Serrigny and Pernand Vergelesses. The vines for both are planted on the hillsides underneath the plateau of Corton's woodland forest. The majorityof Pinot Noir is planted in the southern and eastern sector where the soil is naturally rich with red iron clay giving additional body and power. Overall, the wines from these areas tend to be fruit forward and fleshy with a balance of round edges and fine concentration.
