Goedhuis, December 2011
Corbeaux has lots of personality in 2010. Aromatic with a scented palate of sweet vanilla, spice and blood orange. Succulent on the core but with a burly presence, this finishes with lots of definition and focus.

Burghound, January 2013, Score: 90?
Soft wood frames ripe and nuanced aromas of red and dark berry fruit, warm and pungent earth and a discreet hint of game. There is excellent mid-palate concentration and plenty of sap that imparts avelvety mouth feel to the muscular flavors that possess a distinct Gevrey style sauvage character that continues onto the long if mildly rustic finish where a touch of bitterness surfaces. The tannins seem sufficiently ripe so I suspect that the bitterness comes from the wood toast and thus it should dissipate in due time though I have put a question mark after the score for this reason. Burghound, January 2012, Score: 90-92
Here too there is heavy reduction. There is excellent mid-palate concentration and plenty of sap that imparts a velvety mouth feel to the muscular flavors that possess a distinct Gevrey style sauvage character that continues onto the long if mildly rustic finish. There is outstanding length to this very firmly structured effort and while it won't win any awards for refinement, it quitecorrectly speaks of its roots. Drink: 2022+.

The Sérafin family are part of the establishment in Gevrey Chambertin. From when he took over from his father in the 1960 until his recent retirement, if you ever want to get in touch with Christian, you either had to call him as the rooster crowed in the morning or long after the sun had set. The rest of the time, he was working out in the vines or deep in his cellars. The domaine is now run by cousins Frédérique and Karine who are continuing the family tradition of making bold and structured wines. Their Pinots benefit from a period of bottle age and typically express fine tertiary characteristics. They do not fine or filter their wines, and only rack when necessary. Not shy of new oak, they use up to 50% on their straight Bourgogne and often 100% on the rest of their cuvées depending on the concentration. The wines tend to be ample and fleshy, and the richest ones need some cellaring in order to better integrate the spicy, cedarwood flavours.Read less
Region
Gevrey Chambertin
The greatest village in terms of notable grand cru vineyards, Gevrey Chambertin has no less than 9 of them including its most famous Chambertin and Chambertin Clos de Bèze, and includes a premier cru vineyard that many people deem grand cru in quality - Clos St. Jacques. It encompasses approximately 400 hectares under vine also making it the largest top quality vineyard area in the Côte de Nuits. Gevrey-Chambertin has many followers who seek out its deeply coloured, robust and textured wines. They are often firmer than the neighbouring appellations of Chambolle Musigny and Vosne Romanée and can take several years to soften once released. Due to its size and reputation, the list of excellent producers is noteworthy and many are worth seeking out.
