Goedhuis, December 2011
Whilst Chambertin has the reputation for power, Clos de Bèze is arguably the finer of these two great Grand Crus in Gevrey. This is a beauty with sweet, intense, small berried fruit flavours. There are superb levels of concentration and intensity. A wine with real depth and the complex grainy tannins provide additional nuances. Top class.

Burghound, April 2012, Score: 92-94
An almost invisible touch of volatile acidity detracts mildly from the otherwise complex and attractive mix of red currant, plum and violet aromas. There is equally good depth present on the rich, round and minerally large-scaled flavors that brim with dry extract and excellent mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in a mouth coating, powerful and driving finish. This should be terrific in time. 2025+.

Jancis Robinson, January 2012, Score: 17.5
Lots of richness and density and power. Very dry and savoury on the end – like a crouching tiger. Drink 2020-2032

A Bourguignon through and through, Nicolas’ unrivalled local network of thoroughly reliable grower-suppliers allows him to source fruit from the most sought-after parcels in the Côte. He also produces a selection of domaine wines (under Domaine de Bellene). The emphasis remains to this day on well-sited venerable vines and viticulture and the Maison Roche de Bellene label is the superlative source of attractive, well-priced Burgundy wines. Nicolas chose the name ‘Bellene' in honour of the ancient Roman name for Beaune.Read less

Chambertin Clos de Bèze
Gevrey-Chambertin has more Grand Crus than any other appellation in Burgundy. Unusually wines from Clos de Beze may simply call themselves Chambertin, which is an indicator of the quality of these vineyards. One of the most complete of all the Grand Crus, rivalling the revered Romanee-Conti, Chambertin-Clos de Bèze wines are the pinnacle of Pinot Noir - fragrant, powerfully complex and intense.
