Thus our Barolo tour started by stumbling uponthe Revello family - er, the coffee roasters. But fear not, our Barolo brothers, Enzo and Carlo(though no relation), were merely due northwest and tucked behind yet another bend in the road.A star among modern styled Barolo producers, the Revello brothers began making wine from theirfamily-owned estate in 1992 following a 5-year winemaking sabbatical. Since their return, they havereceived many excellent reviews by major international critics who commend them on their purityof fruit and exceptional richness. Insiders have described them as the next Elio Altare, but we just like them for being Revellos - the right ones, that is.Read less

Region

Barolo

With Brunello in Tuscany, Barolo is undoubtedly Italy's finest wine producing region. Located in Piedmont in the north west of Iataly Barolo is comprised of 5 major communes - Barolo, Monteforte d'Alba, La Morra, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba - though the latter three tend to represent the main styles of the region. The wines are compelling and polished - an exemplary expression of the Nebbiolo grape. DOCG law requires a minimum ageing of 2 years in cask or barrel yet can be longer depending on the producer. Barolos are generally released four or more years after the vintage.
