  • Burghound, January 2003, Score: 90-93

Big, strapping, explosive aromas of black fruit, earth and notes of blueberries all trimmed in a touch of wood toast lead to sappy, full-bodied, rich, wonderfully intense, powerfully structured flavors that go on and on. Still extremely primary and no where near ready to bottle but this clearly has outstanding potential. Drink: 2012-2020.Notes: from a 1.5 ha parcel that is roughly divided in .90 ha of terres rouges and .60 ha of terres blanches, the latter of which has the slightly older vines.

  • Burghound, January 2004, Score: 93

Big, strapping, explosive aromas of black fruit, earth and notes of blueberries all trimmed in a touch of wood toast lead to sappy, full-bodied, rich, wonderfully intense, powerfully structured flavors that go on and on. Exceptionally dense for the vintage with dusty structure and superb balance which should permit it to age for years. Drink: 2010-2020.

  • Burghound, April 2007, Score: 93

What were originally big, strapping, explosive aromas of black fruit, earth and notes of blueberries all trimmed in a touch of wood toast lead have gracefully transformed into a gorgeously elegant, airy and pure nose that complements perfectly the sappy, full-bodied, rich, wonderfully intense and still firmly structured flavors that go on and on. Exceptionally dense for the vintage with dusty structure and superb balance which should permit it to age for years. The '01 Bonnes Mares trades more on elegance than power than usual though to be sure, it's no shrinking violet. Lovely. Drink: 2013+

Bonnes Mares

Perched between Morey-St-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny in the heart of the Cotes de Nuits this Grand Cru appellation can balance the best characteristics of both. Bonnes Mares wines combine fragrance and femininity with body and power. A seductive combination indeed.
