Hong Kong Wine List

Our second shipment for the year has just arrived, and with it new vintages of past favorites and some new additions to Hong Kong.

Please take a look at the new additions, we're sure they won't disappoint.

2015 Marc Deschamps Pouilly Fume Tradition des Loges | HK$ 155/bottle
The 2015 from Marc Deschamps is a great success. It has the classical Pouilly combination of lemon sherbet texture and mineral intensity. It is lively with great drive from a refreshing line of acidity balancing the structured palate. Goedhuis & Co

2015 Domaine Marcel Couturier Macon-Loche | HK$ 120 / bottle
Zesty tangerine and wonderful ripe flavours of pineapple and apricot burst from the glass. This has such an appetizing, textured palate. It showcases the high quality attainable in the best sites across the Mâcon. Goedhuis & Co

2013 Etienne Sauzet Puligny Montrachet | HK$350 / bottle
A slightly more elegant nose features notes of matchstick, citrus, floral and a hint of wood toast. The middle weight flavors possess excellent punch and detail that continues onto the slightly more refined finish where a hint of bitter lemon arises. This too delivers fine quality for its level and also merits your interest. Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

2013 Bruno Colin Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Chenevottes | HK$395 / bottle
I always like this cuvée on the borders of Puligny. It balances the bright fresh mineral drive of Puligny, with some textured earthy weight of Chassagne. A really good wine, vibrant and refreshing with lots of beautiful flavours of clementines and lemons, a striking line of minerality and great length  Goedhuis & Co

2013 Billaud Simon Chablis Grand Cru Vaudesir | HK$395 / bottle
As one might reasonably expect given the penchant for Vaudésir to always be quite ripe, there is moderate exoticism to the pear and white peach scents that still manage to display a touch of Chablis character in the form of ocean breeze nuances. The punchy, powerful and mineral-inflected flavors possess good mid-palate concentration as well as fine length. 91 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

2013 Jean Marc Boillot Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru La Garenne | HK$550/ bottle
Pale yellow. Delicate aromas and flavors of stone fruits and lychee. Suave and light on its feet, with ripe, nicely integrated acidity giving the wine a firmness on the tactile, persistent back end. This may be a bit smaller-scaled but it finishes with good subtle length. 90 points, Vinous.com

2011 La Reserve de Leoville Barton, St Julien  | HK$ 225 / bottle
This is impressive, with blueberry and blackberry character, plus hints of licorice. Full body with silky tannins and a chewy finish. Almost smoky. Needs at least three to four years of bottle age. Second wine of Léoville-Barton. 90 points James Suckling, August 2014

2009 Ch de Fonbel, St Emilion | HK$ 270 / bottle
Brilliant ruby colour. This relatively unsung St Emilion owned by the Vauthier family of Ch Ausone has delicious sweet plum fruit aromas, with a lovely broad volume of juicy ripe fruit flavours in the palate. This has subtle depth without being power-packed, and a refreshing touch of acidity on the finish. Good, long and a fine reminder of how rewarding St Emilion wines can be. Goedhuis & Co

1995 Ch Pichon Baron, Pauillac | HK$ 1,100 / bottle
The nose has wonderful lift with blackberry, cassis, espresso and fireside hearth. Great definition although there is still just a little oak to be subsumed. The palate has very good weight and concentration, firm tannins, pure blackberry, kirsch and perhaps just a faint touch of VA that just lends the finish a sense of sensuality and decadence. Superb. Drink 2010-2025  94 points, Neal Martin

2008 Alain Michelot Nuits St Georges 1er Cru Aux Chaignots | HK$ 350 / bottle
Les Chaignots or "The oak trees" sits to the north of the town of Nuits st Georges heading towards Vosne Romanee. The vines are planted on red soil and produce wines with both volume and freshness. Almost 10 years old, this is entering its peak of drinking, balancing flavours of red cherry fruits and hints of gamey undertones. The tannins are beautifully mature and provide a feeling of substance, giving real longevity and structure on the finish. Lovely and ready for immediate drinking. Drink 2017 - 2026. Goedhuis & Co

2011 Drouhin Laroze Chambolle Musigny | HK$395 / bottle
(a mix of 80% Les Baudes and 20% from the villages portion of Les Veroilles). A fresh and distinctly cool nose of airy and laudably pure red pinot fruit, stone and soft spice hints. There is that lovely sense of underlying tension to the detailed and precise middle weight flavors that possess fine balance and excellent length on the saline suffused finish. This is good stuff and the 1er portion of the blend is particularly evident in 2011. 89-92 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound.com
