  • Goedhuis, December 2015

Brilliant purple colour, this is a wine focusing on brightness and zest. A lovely balance of flavours between fresh red fruits with subtle undertones of cinnamon and spice. The tannic depth here supports bold fruit flavours, to culminate in a long finish of power and depth.

  • Neal Martin, December 2015, Score: 90-92

From the lieu-dit Petits Epenots, the 2014 Pommard 1er Cru les Epenots has a crisp, effervescent bouquet with red cherry and strawberry fruit interlaced with orange zest and cola. There is lots of energy here and that translates through onto the palate. There is plenty of fleshy ripe red fruit, a little tart compared to others, a very comely Pommard with fine precision if not quite the persistence on the finish. Drink 2017-2032

Luckily the wines are superb as well - terroir-driven, classically styled and silky - they are hallmarks of top quality Côte de Beaune reds.Read less

Region

Pommard

A long popular appellation, Pommard is yet another exclusive red wine area which produces by far the most structured reds of the Côte de Beaune. It extracts rich body and long ageing potential from the limestone/iron-rich clay soil. Some examples can be markedly rustic, yet as time has passed and winemaking know-how has improved, Pommard's wines are becoming softer and more approachable when young. Its vines cover 317 hectares of which over a third are premier cru vineyards. Several have pronounced following and even one, Les Rugiens, is being pushed to become a grand cru.
