When did Goedhuis & Co become Goedhuis Waddesdon?
In November 2023, Goedhuis & Co and Waddesdon Wine announced that they had signed an agreement to merge to form a new business, Goedhuis Waddesdon Limited. Effective 1st March 2024, we ceased trading as Goedhuis & Co and began trading as Goedhuis Waddesdon Limited.

How do you pronounce “Goedhuis”?
It is pronounced “good house”. Goedhuis is the surname of our co-founder and chairman, Johnny Goedhuis, whose family originate from Holland.

What is Goedhuis Waddesdon?
Goedhuis Waddesdon was formed from the merger of Goedhuis & Co and Waddesdon Wine, uniting exceptional wine expertise, prestigious portfolios and first-class levels of service to create an unparalleled destination for wine collectors, retailers and hospitality businesses seeking to elevate their standards of wine excellence.

Are all wines available online?
All wines of which we have at least a case in stock will be showing on the website.

What do different prices, such as In Bond, mean?
In Bond: Prices shown exclude UK duty and VAT. Payment of duty and VAT is deferred until delivery.

Duty Paid ex VAT: Prices shown include UK duty but exclude VAT. Wines for immediate delivery must be purchased duty paid. VAT will be added to your invoice. This is of relevance to companies who can offset their VAT.

Duty Paid inc VAT: Prices shown include UK duty and VAT. Wines for immediate delivery must be purchased duty paid.

What does En Primeur mean?
Buying wine “en primeur” refers to the process of buying wine before it is bottled and released to the market. This principally applies to the best wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy and The Rhône. The wine is generally shipped to the UK in the year or two after purchase. Duty and VAT only become payable when the wine is taken out of bond and delivered.

Are all wines available for immediate delivery?
The vast majority of our wines are available for immediately delivery.

En Primeur wines are not available until shipped to the UK in the year or two following release.

We also sometimes offer small parcels of wine on release by the producer which are shipped to the UK in the following months.

My purchase is a gift? Can I include a message?
Gift messages can be sent but as most wines will be coming directly from our cellars in Wiltshire the letter will usually arrive separately in the post.

How can I amend/cancel my order?
If you would like to amend or cancel your order you need to contact us as soon as possible +44 (0)20 7793 7900. If the wine is still in our warehouse it may be possible for us to cancel or change the order, however this is not guaranteed.

ACCOUNTS & PAYMENT

Can I order without an account?
Yes, buy online, give us a call on +44 (0)20 7793 7900 or email us at wine@goedhuiswaddesdon.com and an account will be set up for you as part of the purchasing process.

How do I create an account?
Give us a call on +44 (0)20 7793 7900 and we can set one up for you, although you only need an account if you want to buy wine from us.

What payment methods do you accept?
Ideally please make a payment by bank transfer. You can find our UK and HK bank details on our invoices, or alternatively you can call us on +44 (0) 20 7793 7900. We accept most major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, Switch/Maestro (but not Amex). We have the option to set up a Direct Debit Scheme, please see below for details, or you can set up a Standing Order with your bank for a set amount on a set date each month. You can also send us a cheque. Please quote your account number as the reference when paying by cheque or bank transfer to ensure the funds are applied to the correct account.

Direct Debit Scheme
We operate a Direct Debit Scheme through GoCardless who offer a quick and easy set up. Once the Direct Debit is set up we will process payments around 30 days from invoice date and you will receive an email from GoCardless informing you of the amount to be taken, a description of what the amount relates to, along with the date that the funds will be taken on. You have three working days from the email until the funds are taken so there is an opportunity to move funds to cover, or contact Goedhuis accounts team should there be any problems. SOLVING PROBLEMS

My delivery is incorrect – what should I do?
If you notice that a bottle is missing or has been broken in transit please mark this clearly on the delivery note and call us on +44 (0)20 7793 7900 to let us know as soon as possible. Goedhuis Waddesdon will either refund or replace the bottles in question.

If you receive the wrong wine, please contact us immediately on +44 (0)20 7793 7900.

How do I make a complaint?
We take customer service very seriously and if you would like to make a complaint or help us to improve our service please do give us a call on +44 (0)20 7793 7900.

STORING WINES

Can I store my wines with you?
We recommend storing your wine with Private Reserves Ltd, our subsidiary wine storage company set up by Johnny and Laura Goedhuis in 1988 which has grown to be one of the largest and most respected wine storage operations in the UK. For more information on Private Reserves click here.

How do I set up an account with Private Reserves?
If you purchase wine from Goedhuis Waddesdon, as a Goedhuis Waddesdon customer you will automatically be set up with a Private Reserves account.

What will it cost to store my wine?
Storage charges are currently £5.28 - £6.48 ex VAT per 6 bottle case per annum, depending on the total number of bottles stored.

How can I see the list of my stored wines?
The list of your reserves can be viewed at www.privatereservesltd.com. You need your account number or email address and password to log in.

Alternatively you can call Goedhuis Waddesdon on +44 (0) 207 793 7900 or Private Reserves on +44 (0) 1604 770759 and we will be happy to email or send a copy of your reserves to you.

How can I get stored wines delivered?
You can request delivery of your wines on www.privatereservesltd.com. You need your account number or email address and password to log in. You will receive an invoice for duty, VAT and delivery which must be paid before your wines are released to you.

Alternatively you can email the team at Private Reserves on info@privatereservesltd.com to request delivery of your wines. Please note for security reasons delivery requests are required online, by email or in writing.

What will I have to pay to get stored wines delivered?
When you decide to take delivery of your wines from Private Reserves, duty and VAT at the prevailing Government rates will be payable. These charges are at present £16.02 per 12x75cl case for wine and 20% respectively.

Private Reserves delivery rates are as follows:

Outside central London and the M25 (except Scotland, Highlands and Islands and parts of Wales and the South West):

    • 1 case £22.00 ex VAT
    • 2 cases £35.00 ex VAT
    • 3-5 cases £45.00 ex VAT
    • 6-10 £50.00 ex VAT

Within the M25 (outside Central London):

    • 1-4 cases £35.00 ex VAT
    • 5-10 cases £40.00 ex VAT

Central London:

    • 1-4 cases £28.00 ex VAT
    • 5-10 cases £35.00 ex VAT

Highlands and Islands - please ask us and we will provide a quote.

DELIVERY

How much does delivery cost?
Orders for immediate delivery:

        • Delivery to UK addresses is free on orders over £360 inc VAT (excluding Central Scotland, Highlands and Islands).
        • Delivery to UK addresses is £24.00 inc VAT on orders under £360 inc VAT (excluding Central Scotland Highlands and Islands).
        • Delivery to Central Scotland, Highlands and Islands incurs additional charges - click here for full details.
        • Delivery to Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Guernsey and Jersey on application only and subject to surcharges.

En Primeur Deliveries:

        • Delivery of all En Primeur wines is charged at cost irrespective of value.

Private Reserves delivery rates are as follows:

Outside central London and the M25 (except Scotland, Highlands and Islands and parts of Wales and the South West):

    • 1 case £22.00 ex VAT
    • 2 cases £35.00 ex VAT

When will my wine be delivered?
Orders are delivered Monday to Friday during normal working hours.

If possible let us know if there is somewhere safe the wine can be left in the event of your absence.

Orders received before 11.30am on weekdays will be delivered as follows:

        • within the M25, the following working day
        • elsewhere in the UK (excluding Highlands & Islands), three to four working days after the date of order 
        • to the Highlands and Islands, from five to seven working days after the date of order

On occasion delivery can be expedited but will incur an additional charge.

How can I check when my wine will be delivered?
You can check the day your wine delivery is due by calling us on +44 (0)20 7793 7900.

What happens if I am out?
If possible please let us know if there is somewhere safe the wine can be left in the event of your absence. Wines left unattended are entirely at your own risk and we cannot be responsible for any theft or damage.

If we have not been informed that the property will be empty during the delivery time and there is no instruction to leave the wine unattended, the wine will be taken back to our warehouse and a rescheduled delivery will have to be made. This may incur a redelivery charge.

Can wine be sent to a different address from my account address?
Absolutely. Just let us know where you want the wine to be delivered.

Can my wine be delivered overseas?
For deliveries outside the UK please telephone us on +44 (0)20 7793 7900 or email wine@goedhuiswaddesdon.com

Overseas shipments can be arranged through Seabrooks, Connoisseur and Davies Turner. Please contact us on +44 (0)20 7793 7900 for a quotation.

We consolidate regular shipments to Hong Kong and Singapore. Please contact us on +44 (0)20 7793 7900 for details of costs and timings.

BROKING/SELLING WINE

I want to sell my wine. What can I do?

There are two ways of selling your wine through Goedhuis Waddesdon. In certain circumstances we may purchase wine directly from you, otherwise your wine can be brokered through our Fine Wine list and this website.
