Welcome to the Goedhuis & Co website. I would like to let you know of an exciting new development for David Roberts Domaines Ltd. Following a number of months’ discussion, DRD has been acquired by Goedhuis & Co and I will be joining the Company as a board director and shareholder of the new combined entity.
Goedhuis & Co is one of London’s leading independent wine merchants, founded by Chairman Johnny Goedhuis, and has developed a reputation as a classic French specialist focusing in particular on the wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône Valley. There is an immense synergy between our two businesses and we hope that by combining our joint purchasing power with the finest estates from France we will have an even more attractive proposition for our customers. Last week Johnny and I visited some of the leading estates and suppliers in Bordeaux in advance of our announcement. Their response was extremely positive, giving us added confidence as to the overall benefits and the opportunity for even stronger positions with many of the best Châteaux and Domaines in France.
For DRD clients, there will undoubtedly be a benefit from the developed infrastructure that Goedhuis & Co has as a mature specialist fine wine business. It has a long history of storing private clients’ stocks in bond and I hope with their refined systems we can use this knowledge to provide improved information for all our stockholders. The DRD office at Tostock House will remain as the Suffolk office and my principal place of work and Mandy Ford and Caroline Freeman will maintain their administrative roles at Tostock.
In my new role with Goedhuis & Co I will head up the buying and continue to look after DRD’s clients’ wine requirements. The Wine Cellar Plan structure remains totally in place with new plans to be developed annually under the current format. In addition the David Roberts Wine School will continue to offer wine courses for clients and wine lovers within East Anglia.
It is a considerable administrative task combining our two lists. The entire DRD stock will appear over the next couple of months on this website for purchase.
