We are delighted to be including Château de Meursault in the list of Côte de Beaune estates we are launching this year. This fine property has gone through some very exciting developments under the direction of Stéphane Follin-Arbelet, whose family themselves own a highly respected domaine in Aloxe Corton. The vineyards under the Château’s ownership cover an extraordinary 65 hectares, from Savigny Lès Beaune through to Meursault. In 2019 the estate was certified as fully organic, quite an achievement for a domaine of this size, covering so many fine appellations. This dynamic domaine is investing extensively in both the vineyards and the winery, reaching new heights in quality.

Made from 3 hectares of estate owned vines on the upper slopes of this fine Premier Cru, this wine has a greater degree of definition and more mineral energy than wines from the lower slopes. An opening salvo of clementine and apricot is a little more unctuous than some years, with a rewarding sunny disposition, ahead of the limestone mineral bite lifts through to give a rewarding final memory on the finish.

This cuvée comes from just over a hectare of this stony vineyard on the boundary of Puligny, and it has the pristine purity that befits such a location. Bright and racy, with pink grapefruit and lemon sherbet, this is so concentrated, giving an impression of tannic tension like a coiled spring. There is so much waiting to be released within this wine; it has huge potential.

Les Peuillets consists of very sandy soil which freely drains after heavy rainfall and keeps its warmth throughout the summer. A wild and gamey style with earthy hedgerow fruits, forward in nature with an open sweetness, accentuated by flavours of vanilla and a hint of sweet, spiced oak.

Clos des Chenes is situated on the cooler, higher slopes of this highly respected vineyard at 270 metres above sea level. Cassis and dark berry, laced with freshly ground coffee bean. Extremely supple, the tannins are very fine ahead of layers of dark blackberry which just keep building. Lovely and memorable on the finish.

Situated in Petits Epenots, this is a dark and powerful cuvée. Intense aromas of Asian spice, dark chocolate and vanilla. A sense of muscle, with a tight central core of cherry stone tannins. Naturally firm, there is an impressive intensity with prominent richness on the finish.
