En Primeur | Ch de Marsannay
This impressive estate, like Château de Meursault, is owned by Olivier Halley. It is a substantial property, comprising 40 hectares, of which 28 are in Marsannay and the remainder are spread throughout prime locations in the Côte de Nuits and as far south as Puligny Montrachet. With the guidance of Stéphane Follin-Arbelet of Château de Meursault, new technical director Sylvain Pabiot has been implementing exciting changes at the property. They are currently in the process of converting to organic vineyard management and Sylvain has instigated a more delicate approach in the winery for the Pinots.

This Marsannay Blanc is sourced from 2.5 hectares of superbly positioned Chardonnay in the very middle of the slopes. Bright lemon yellow colour, this has a perfume of kumquat and apricot. A creamy generosity on the palate, with a light lacquer of almond essence and vanilla pod, gives a warming, lasting impression.

Several plots in Couchey and Marsannay, just bottled. Fullish yellow. Plenty of weight and some character with a leesy complexity behind. There is plenty here, has not quite reached where it wants to go, but shows promise, a little liquorice touch. Drink from 2025-2027.
2022 Puligny Montrachet Cuvée de Maizière Ch de Marsannay

Goedhuis, December 2023
A classically styled Puligny from 0.5 hectares on the lower slopes of the appellation. Rose petal and jasmine scent, so full of purity and finesse. Light clementine citrus flavours, charming and graceful, with a soft honeyed finish.
2022 Marsannay Le Boivin Ch de Marsannay
£185.00 In Bond £241.24 Inc VAT (£40.20 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis, December 2023
From 0.5 hectares in the northern sector of the appellation with clay and chalk soils. Characterised by its energy and brightness, with intense aromas of cranberry and pomegranate. The flavours are a little richer, with a touch of nutmeg and spice and vanilla. Very rewarding and ideal for youthful drinking.

Still in barrel, as Boivin needs longer ageing, thanks to concentrated small berries. Two thirds whole bunch vinification. Something a little toastier and robust. Definitely firm tannins despite aiming at lighter extraction. This may tighten up further, For those who like to keep their wines. Drink from 2028-2034.
2022 Gevrey Chambertin Champeaux 1er Cru Ch de Marsannay
£525.00 In Bond £649.24 Inc VAT (£108.20 Per Bottle)-
Goedhuis, December 2023
Situated on the higher slopes of the commune at its boundary for Premiers Crus on the northern side. Renowned for its fruit and flamboyant, open flavours, this is an archetypal Champeaux, with damson and bitter cherry aromas. On the palate it has a flashy opulence, sweet and spiced, with soft tannic creaminess. Charming.
