Goedhuis Team

Hugo McMullen

Head of International Sales

The drinks trade has always been in my blood; on my father’s side my great, great, great, great grandfather established McMullen’s Brewery in Hertfordshire in 1827. On my mother’s side, my grandfather was a distinguished and much-respected figure in the Scotch whisky industry acting as managing director of Glenlivet and Glen Grant in the 1960s.

I joined the Goedhuis team in 2010, shortly after working in the vineyards of Chateau Bauduc, owned by the ever-enthusiastic Gavin Quinney. My present role includes advising clients from the UK and abroad on how to create and manage perfect cellars for both drinking and investment.

Specialities:

  • Senior Private Client Sales
  • Fine Wine | EP | Investment
  • Family Offices | Portfolio Management
  • UK | Middle East | Singapore

At Goedhuis we love Burgundy, but I specialise in the great wines of Bordeaux and particularly enjoy visiting the region - I adore mature Pauillac and the best Pomerols.

I also have an ever-increasing addiction in the wines of Burgundy. My first En Primeur campaign was 2010 which is one of the greatest modern-day vintages. Favourite growers include Coffinet-Duvernay, Antoine Jobard, Paul Pillot, Domaine Fourrier, Denis Mortet, & Armand Rousseau.

Outside of work, my passions include family time, travel and watching all sports. Back in 2011, I defeated a giant of a man to win the Boodles Boxing Ball. And more recently, I swam the English Channel as a 4 man relay - raising more than £60,000 for Aspire.
