St Baillon Rosé 2016: “a truly delicious, unbelievably reliable and yet eminently affordable French classic”

June 12th 2017

In last week’s Moneyweek Matthew Jukes highlighted a few different French domaines that he feels make “great inexpensive wine year in, year out” – no easy feat given the unpredictability of European weather. James Low and I enjoyed the most incredible visit to this estate two weeks ago. Two hours was not nearly enough time to taste, nor discuss, the detailed, layered, intoxicating wine made chez Avril. And so we happily continued the conversation and tasting at Vincent’s ‘canteen’ (a great local restaurant with a daily changing set menu, La Table de Sorgues). So great is the demand this year that both of Vincent’s wines are strictly allocated, but we still wanted to share with you the tasting notes and details about the domaine. It really is an extraordinary place.

New Release: Château de Beaucastel 2015

October 24th 2016

We are delighted to launch our 2015 Rhone En Primeur campaign with an outstanding pair of wines from Château de Beaucastel. Beaucastel is the flagship estate of the Perrin family and these masters of the Southern Rhône make benchmark Châteauneuf. The best vintages here can age into legendary wines, and an increasing tendency to elegance in the wine-making style of recent years has not gone unnoticed.
