Having followed Seña for seven years now we have witnessed its rise as one of Chile’s most iconic wines.

We are therefore delighted to report that the 2015 has been awarded the highest score of 100 points for the first time, by leading Chilean critic James Suckling. It has not only been given this top accolade, but has also achieved 96 points from Luis Gutierrez of The Wine Advocate; the highest score for a Chilean wine in his report, Chile: Earth, Air, Fire and Water, April 2017.

All this high praise is tremendously exciting, and we were honoured to receive Seña’s wine maker, Francisco Baettig, to our office to taste this iconic 2015 together. We all had one word – WOW!

Francisco said how delighted they are with 2015, he said “it is the culmination of a 20-year vision.” Their goal was to create a beautiful Bordeaux blend with ripe tannins and a wonderful balance of purity, freshness and intensity of fruit. A wine which, while remaining true to its Chilean origins, was not overtly new world in style. The 2015 has achieved this in spades and encapsulates the exceptional ripening conditions 2015 enjoyed. The collaborative vision of two of the wine industry’s most iconic figures, Eduardo Chadwick of Viña Errazuriz and Robert Mondavi has most certainly come of age.

The fresh red and dark fruit aromas that leap from the glass are quite simply stunning. Seña 2015 has a sumptuous depth of fruit, structure and intensity that is beautifully elegant and seamlessly integrated. With comparisons being made to some of the world’s top Cabernet blends, the time to start buying Seña is most definitely now!

Just over 5,000 cs of this exceptional wine are made each year, and we are delighted to offer a small parcel of this highly prized release which will be available for delivery in January 2018. Please note that quantities are very limited.

Wonderful purity and intensity characterise this Bordeaux blend from Chile’s Acongagua Valley. There are deep crimson folds of cassis fruit, red cherries and floral notes, intermingled with hints of tobacco leaf spice on the nose. It is intensely fresh and vibrant. The aromatic fruit on the palate has beautiful concentration; pure and fine. Sumptuous flavours coat your palate and last for minutess. This is an extremely elegant offering, with graceful balance, fine chalky ripe tannins and lifted acidity. Drink: 2018 – 2028. Goedhuis & Co

Stunning aromas of black currant, stone, blueberry and licorice. Also iodine. Floral. Perfumed. Full body, fantastic density of fruit and ripe tannins. It goes on for minutes on the palate with such energy and focus. Touch of chewiness on the finish. A complex and complete wine that delivers a generosity with firmness. James Suckling. 100 points

2015 might have been a slightly warmer year, but the resulting wine is lower in alcohol and higher in acidity, which provide for a more vibrant mouthfeel and a more focused expression of the character of the place… dry, nicely textured, and the replacement of the Merlot by Malbec seems to have also added to the refinement of the tannins that are super-elegant. Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate. 96 points
