Domaine Bruno Colin 2015 | An outstanding array of Chassagne Montrachets

December 15th 2016

The early buzz might have centred on the 2015 reds, but it became rapidly clear during our visits to the region that the 2015 whites are not to be underestimated.

More forward and generous than the scintillating 2014s, the 2015s have a compelling appeal of their own: luxuriant ripe fruit with lively freshness. Bruno Colin’s Chassagne Montrachets are a masterful expression of the vintage and the obvious choice for our early-bird White Burgundy offer.

When Michel Colin semi-retired in 2004, he divided most of his estate between his two sons, Philippe and Bruno. Bruno’s 8 hectares span the Chassagne Montrachet appellation, and this year we are thrilled to take a position on a further 3 cuvées of Chassagne premier cru.

Bruno’s style blends Burgundy’s tell-tale minerality with luxuriant fruit. In 2015 he has harnessed the richness of the vintage’s nature checked by bright freshness. Picking decisions were important in 2015, and Bruno was relatively early out of the blocks, meaning he maintained low pH and vibrant acidities in his wines. This complements the juicy stone fruit flavours and naturally chiselled nuttiness of Chassagne so well.

We have selected a shortlist of 6 wines for this pre-release, and are delighted to offer two premiers crus in magnums (3x150cl), a relative rarity in White Burgundy, and deserving of a place in any Burgundy lover’s cellar.

NB: We will be releasing our Chablis 2015s next week, and our main campaign will be in early January as usual. As the 2015 Burgundies have already attracted so much attention, please let us know of any particular wines or producers you are interested in for the launch of the main campaign.
